I really hope they fix this in TES 6 because I really wanted to marry Sylgia but couldn't stand seeing her pickaxe all the time. I make her wear whatever I like by removing her items via PC console commands but leaving the shoes behind so the rest of her default clothes won't respawn A simple mod that lets you give clothes to a spouse is Change Spouse Outfits that only works on non followers, there is one just for followers linked on the mod page too or theres the full follower overhauls like AFT. I like making my wife wear fancy clothes. Like we said above if the spouse isn't a follower you can't get them to equip the new clothes, but on a PC you can use mods or commands. BUT, the only redguard wife you can get is rayya. You can all call your expermentations with your Spouse or other female or male for you few female Skyrim players such as my sister NPC characters whatever you want, but your "experiments" are either perverted or so you can come up with an idea for a PC mod for the game.
Those lucky PC players can also spawn Nocturnal's Clothes for science of course. Have you "examined" Ancient Nord Armor? I was sneaking though a Falmer den once and looked back to see if Lydia was still following me and i got to see a lot more of her than i was expecting Falmer armor too has very little coverage. It doesn't matter what the sex of the "donor" was, it will reflect the sex of the wearer, it can be smithed up high enough so any follower will wear it and it shows off legs very well. Miner's clothes seem to make girls go up a cup size, if were being honest personally i like the split skirt of taven clothes rather than the masive cleavage but i do like the bodice-like hide armor. You can put all sorts of fancy stuff on them when they are following you, but as soon as they go back to being a steward they re-equip their original armor. If their default garb doesn't include a helmet, they will also wear a circlet. Followers will equip enchanted rings and chains. When dismissed to be just a spouse, they will have reequiped their original outfit when next you see them. Even then, they will only wear armor that is better than their default set. OnThe only spouses that one can get to wear different clothing are those that are also followers. In Xbox exist the posibility to the wife wear the tavern clothes or forsworn amor I'm on the PS3 my thief is married to Muiri and it won't work, i can steal her clothes and put the new clothes in her inventory but she won't equip them and just walks around in her underwear untill her old clothes re-appear.
